E-Portfolio assignment: 50 marks. Due before Exam (June 12)
Build a website using Weebly.com. You need at least 4 separate pages:
- Welcome or Home page: This will be a simple welcome page for your website. Post your one best photo here, with some text. Do NOT have a slideshow on this page, and only put the most basic information here. This should almost just be a picture to get people's attention. You must also include your photo logo on this welcome page.
- Portfolio: This will be a slideshow of all the best pictures you've taken. Organize photos in this portfolio section into the following areas: Portrait, Landscape, and one more of your choice (could be Fashion, Action, Travel, Fun, etc.).
- Contact/Links: This section will have your contact information. If you do not want to give your real info, you may use fake email and mailing addresses. Do NOT put your phone number in here.
- Bio: Write a bit about you and your photography experience here. Do NOT give personal information about yourself.
Print Portfolio: 50 marks. Due before exam (June 12)
You will choose your very best colour and black and white prints to present to the class. You must have at least 2 black and white photos that you have developed yourself, and 5 colour pictures that you have printed either at Costco or at school. You will be marked on composition and creativity, as well as all the technical elements of photography (lighting, focus, noise, etc.).

Portrait Assignment. 20 marks Click here for Criteria
You will create a series of portrait pictures to put in your portfolio.
1. Rembrandt lighting. Using a studio lighting setup and a black backdrop, you will create the "Rembrandt" effect on the subject.

2. Natural window lighting.
3. Outdoor relaxed
4. Outdoor action
Photo Essay 25 marks. Due June 6
You will write an essay of at least 300 words long explaining why you think one of your pictures is a good one. Write the essay in Libre Office or Microsoft word. Start the essay with a title centered at the top of the page. The title will be "Gateway Academy Photography Essay", and on the next line give your name. After that, write the title of your picture underneath. Below that include a picture that takes up the width of the page. In the essay section, explain why you think your picture is good, and why you chose it. Make sure you explain your reasons using some photography specific language such as subject, lighting, noise, framing, angle, aperture, etc.
