About Me
I grew up on a farm in Black Creek on beautiful Vancouver Island. I love nearly all team sports, but especially hockey and soccer. I also enjoy individual sports, and very much enjoy outdoor activities. I especially love mountain biking, rock climbing, mountaineering, snowboarding, waterskiing, wake boarding, and skimboarding. I'm also fairly musical, and enjoy playing electric, acoustic, and bass guitars, piano, harmonica, and a bit of mandolin. For the last 7 summers, I've have worked as a treeplanter to make money to pay for university. By now, I estimate I have planted half a million trees, which I am quite proud of.
One of my biggest hobbies is photography. I have more cameras than I need, and love taking pictures of nature, people, sports, and events. Click on the "Photos" link on the top of the page to view a slideshow of some of the nature pictures I've taken.
I did my first two years of post secondary education at North Island College in Courtenay, and then transferred to Vancouver Island University for my last 3.5 years. After 6 years of post secondary education, I graduated with my B.Ed from VIU in December 2010. I'm very excited to be working at CVCS this year, and to have my own classroom. Grade 6 was my favorite age to teach when I did my practica at VIU, and I am glad I was able to teach this age group again.
I'm looking forward to being able to teach, and to be able to work with students. Learning can be such an amazing, creative experience, and I hope that I can help children enjoy discovering new ideas. I also hope that I can learn from them as well, and that together we can discover more of who God is, in order to be more like Him.
